Many people desire a brighter, whiter, more attractive smile, but have chipped, stained, discolored, unevenly spaced or crooked front teeth. Often porcelain veneers (also referred to as laminates) can provide these people with a completely new smile in just a few appointments. If this sounds like you, Dr. Aten or Dr. Bloom will be glad to evaluate your specific situation, listen to the exact changes you have in mind and help you visualize your end results. This may involve a diagnostic ‘wax up’ as well as reviewing photos. A ‘wax up’ will allow you to see exactly how the teeth will look before anything is done to your teeth!
Once you’ve agreed on your desired results and treatment plan, the dentist will prepare your teeth for the veneers by gently removing approximately one half of a millimeter from the surface of each recipient tooth. He will then take an impression of your teeth and send it to a professional dental laboratory where experts will produce your custom-fit veneers. When they are ready, we will test their fit and color by applying them temporarily. If both you and the dentist are happy with the look, feel and fit then the veneers will be permanently cemented to your teeth.
You will need to clean and floss your new smile daily, visit us regularly for professional cleanings and may even want to consider wearing a night-guard to prevent any accidental clenching or grinding pressures while you sleep.
